Hey y’all,
Today I am thinking about all the courageous and mighty knights of justice I know. By that I mean adoptive families. Adoption is not part of God’s original design for humanity. It is the necessary response to the results of tragedy, trauma, loss and pain. Everyone has a different story, but generally, adoption is hard. Not in a “I’m a superhero and I have to save you” sort of way, but in a “there is no handbook for this” sort of way.
I am tagging this post under the category I call Grafted Family. Grafting plants is a slow, tedious art. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. It’s possible, but it’s not easy. Like attachment after abandonment. Like trust after abuse. Like mental health after trauma. Like adoption.
Because I started over with a clean bloggy slate recently, I thought I’d post a little roundup of places I’ve written about adoption in the past, for anyone who is interested. Maybe you come from an adoptive home and need some encouragement or camaraderie. Maybe you are considering adoption and need a good ol’ dose of reality. Maybe you are just plain curious. Adoption, like plant-grafting, can be a little mysterious.
